You can now apply for or renew firearms permits online by clicking the link below for the Firearms Licensing Portal. If you choose to do it in person see the below information.
For first time applicants, you will still need to come into the station to get fingerprinted. Payments can be made on-line through Unipay by clicking the Pay Online link below.

Completed renewal applications can be dropped off at the police station at any time or can be mailed. Remember to include the $100 application fee. Pay Online
First time applicants must make an appointment for an interview with the Chief of Police in order to submit your application.

Copy of Approved Firearms Safety Course Certificate If New Applicant
Parental Consent Form If Under 18

Approved Basic Firearms Safety Course
The Whately Police Department offers the approved 6 hour LTC-001 Massachusetts Police Chiefs of Police Association Basic Firearms Safety Course free of charge for Whately residents ages 14 and up. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to apply for an LTC Class A for handguns or FID Class C for rifles and shotguns. This course does not include any live fire exercises.
