Firearms License Instructions & Requirements
The Wareham Police Department continues to process applications and encourages residents to continue their application process. Please follow the instructions below to apply for your license to carry and submit the required paperwork.
LTC/FID application(s) and renewals can be mailed or dropped off at the Wareham Police Headquarters located at 2515 Cranberry Highway. In order to have your application processed, the applicant must provide ALL required documents. Once all the documents are completed, the application, along with payment, can be mailed or dropped off at the Wareham Police Headquarters in the mailbox located in the front lobby of the station. If you submit your application through the Massachusetts Firearms Licensing Portal, all required application documents must be uploaded. You must either mail or drop off a form of payment (payment options listed below) in order for the application to be processed. Failure to follow the instructions/and or missing documents will result in the application either returned back or not processed.

Applications processed through the portal will need to submit a check or money order for the proper fee to the local Licensing Authority.
Class A - License to Carry Firearms - (must be 21 years of age)
Firearms Identification Cards (FID) - (must be 18 years of age) Complete the Massachusetts Firearms Application
A copy of your MA Driver s License or State issued ID
Proof of residency in the Town of Wareham (copy of one of the following: electric bill, rental agreement, cell phone bill, cable bill, bank statement, or credit card bill)
Proof of Citizenship - a copy of your birth certificate or U.S. Passport. Naturalization Certificate or Green Card if you are a resident alien.

All new applicants and anyone who has been expired for more than five years need to provide a Massachusetts Firearms Safety Course Certificate.

Checks or money orders are the only accepted forms of payment. All checks are made payable to the "Town of Wareham". The application fee is non-refundable and due when the application is submitted.
Applications cannot be dropped off at the police station. Renewal applications with all the required information and fee must be mailed to:

WAREHAM POLICE FIREARMS RECORDS BUREAU CHECKLIST

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
( ) APPLICATION: All applications are to be fully completed at the time of submission. Please be sure
to include and complete page 4, which asks if you have had any firearms lost or stolen. This only applies
for license renewals.
( ) CLASS A (LTC): Applicant(s) must be twenty-one (21) years of age
( ) FIREARMS IDENTIFICATION CARDS (FID): Applicant(s) must be eighteen (18) years of age or
fifteen (15) years of age with parental permission.
( ) IDENTIFICATION: Applicant(s) must provide a copy of a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License
and/or Massachusetts Identification Card. For renewals, a copy of most recent Firearms License to Carry
must be provided with the renewal application.
( ) RENEWAL APPLICATIONS: Renewal applications must be mailed, dropped off, or submitted
through the Massachusetts Firearms Licensing Portal no earlier than sixty (60) days prior to the license
expiration date. Applications received more than sixty (60) days before the expiration date will not be
processed and/or returned.
( ) RESIDENCY: Applicant(s) must provide a copy of one (1) of the following documents to prove
residency; utility bill, credit card bill, rental agreement, bank statement, certified voter registration, etc.
NOTE: The above listed proof of residency documents are only a few examples of accepted licensing
documents. Insurance invoices and/ or documents from Registry of Motor Vehicles will NOT be
accepted.
( ) PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP: A copy of birth certificate or U.S. Passport, Naturalization Certificate
or Green Card if applicant is a resident alien.
( ) FIREARM SAFETY COURSE: All new applicant(s) are required to provide a Basic Massachusetts
Firearms Safety Course Certificate.
( ) LICENSE FEE: A $100 non-refundable fee is required and submitted with the application for a LTC
or FID. FID – UNDER 18, the processing fee is $25.00. Renewal for full-time Law Enforcement, the
processing fee is $25.00. Personal checks, bank checks, or money orders are the only acceptable forms
of payment. Cash is NOT accepted. Please make checks or money orders payable to; Town of
Wareham. NOTE: All fees are waived for applicants who are 70 years of age or older.
( ) ONLINE SUBMISSIONS: For applications or renewals submitted through the Massachusetts
Firearms Licensing Portal, failure to submit payment within thirty (30) days of the application date will
result in the automatic cancellation of the application.
Once the application is processed, the applicant will be scheduled for an interview and fingerprinting.
