Application forms for new firearms licenses and renewal firearms licenses are available at the Sunderland Police Department and online . An appointment can be made with an Officer and to begin the application process during normal business hours of 8 am to 4 pm @ 413-665-7036, ext. 8. Please allow 30 minutes for the application process.
First Time Applicants
First time applicants are required to provide the following
Completed application
Submit a copy of a certificate of completion form from an approved basic firearms safety course.
Valid drivers license
A $100 non-refundable fee must be submitted along with application. Checks made out to The Town of Sunderland. (Persons 70 years old and older are FREE of charge for Renewals.)
Fingerprints and photos will be taken at the time the application is submitted.
Note as Stated on Page Two of the Firearms Application: "Any Person Who Knowingly Files an Application Containing False Information Shall Be Punished by a Fine of Not Less Than $500 Nor More Than $1000 or by Imprisonment for Not Less Than 6 Months Nor More Than 2 Years in a House of Correction, or by Both Such Fine and Imprisonment (M.G.L. C140 131)."
It Is Your Responsibility to Allow Ample Time to Renew Your Firearms License.
Renewal Applicants
