Renewing
If you are renewing your current or expired LTC/FID, complete sign and date the full 4-page application and include the appropriate fee. Applications can be dropped off in the box outside of the station or in the lobby during open business hours. Applications will be processed using a current photo from the RMV and new LTC/FID card will be mailed to you after we receive it. The process takes 10 to 12 weeks.
New Applicant
If you are a new applicant, complete, sign and date the first 3 pages of the application and include a copy of your Basic Firearms Safety Certificate and the appropriate fee. Applications can be dropped off in the box outside of the station or in the lobby during open business hours. Your application MUST be accompanied by PROOF OF RESIDENCY (a copy of your driver s license, passport, utility bill, etc.). Once your application, pre-payment and proof of residency has been received, your application will be processed using your current Massachusetts RMV photo. We will contact you to come in for fingerprints which are scheduled once a month on a Saturday morning.
Any FID applicants under the age of 18 need to also include a signed letter from a parent giving permission to obtain FID.
Fee Schedule
The current fee schedule is as follows:
Check or Money Order: Made payable to the Town of Leicester
New or Renewal LTC/FID: $100
FID under the age of 18: $25
Renewal over the age of 70: no fee

Use this form to apply for a License to Carry Firearms (LTC). Be sure to view and follow the instructions completely.
Change of Address Notification for LTC/FID (PDF)
A cardholder shall notify, in writing, the licensing authority that issued such card, the chief of police into whose jurisdiction such cardholder moves, and the executive director of the criminal history systems board of any change of address. Such notification shall be made by certified mail within 30 days of its occurrence. Failure to notify shall cause revocation or suspension of such card.
