MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF
Chief William P. Quigley is a lifelong public servant and a 38-year veteran of the Cohasset Police Department. He began his career in 1987 and has served in every rank within the department prior to his appointment as Chief of Police in 2012.
As Chief, Quigley leads a modern, community-centered police department focused on professionalism, accountability, and compassionate service. His leadership emphasizes officer wellness, innovative problem-solving, and strong partnerships with the community-particularly in addressing mental health challenges and evolving public safety needs. He is recognized by his peers for his innovative programs and his commitment to high-quality policing.
Chief Quigley has led the department through numerous complex investigations and critical incidents that have garnered national and international attention, reinforcing public trust and the department's reputation for professionalism.
He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from New England College (cum laude), is a graduate of FBI-LEEDA, and is an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, and the Norfolk County Chiefs of Police Association.
