Firearm Licensing:
What you need to apply for a Resident Firearms License:
You must apply for a resident firearms License to Carry (LTC) or Firearms Identification (FID) card through the police department in the town where you reside.
You will need to submit:
A complete FID or LTC Application
The required application fee (see "Fee Schedule" below)
A Massachusetts Basic Firearms Safety Course certificate or a Basic Hunter Safety
A form of identification
Office hours: Tuesdays from 4:00PM-8:00PM
Renewals:
Please print off a Massachusetts LTC/FID application form. Fully complete this form and be sure to sign/date the last page of the application form as well as the Affidavit form.
Once completed, you can either mail or drop off at the Cheshire Police Department, the completed application along with cash, a bank check, or a money order (made out to the "Town of Cheshire"). See "Fee Schedule" below to determine the appropriate fee.
You DO NOT have to make an appointment for LTC or FID card renewals. Your RMV photograph will be utilized for your LTC/FID card photo.

First Time Applicants:

Have your Basic Pistol Safety Course certificate (for an LTC application), or your Basic Hunter Safety Course certificate (for an FID card application).
FID/LTCs are done in person every Tuesday evening from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. Please note that Chief Alibozek makes every attempt to be there to assist you, but due to the emergency services we provide, he may have to step out from time to time to assist the citizens.
Fee Schedule:
License to Carry Firearms - $100.00
License to Carry Firearms - retired law enforcement officers - $25.00
Firearms Identification Card - $100.00
Firearms Identification Card - applicants under 18 years old - $25.00
Citizens 70 years old or older - No Fee
Please make out bank checks or money orders to the "Town of Cheshire" for the above applicable fee
