Age Restrictions
To apply for a License to Carry (LTC): 21 years or older
For a Firearms Identification Card (FIC): 18 years or older
Persons aged 15 to 17 years are eligible for an FID card with a signed department parental consent form

Copy of driver s license
Check or Money Order for $100, payable to Town of Belchertown For ages 15 to 18, the fee is $25
For retired law enforcement officers, the fee is $25
Drop off at the Police Department. The applicant will receive a call to set up a time for an interview.

Renewing LTC and FID

Renewable every 6 years
Submit renewal application 6 to 8 weeks prior to expiration date.
Include completed application
Check or Money Order for $100, payable to Town of Belchertown No charge for renewal if 70 years or older
For retired law enforcement officers under 70, the fee is $25
Drop off at the Police Department. Once the application is processed, the applicant will receive a receipt in the mail. A new card will be mailed out in approximately 1 to 2 months.
Additional Information
Any false information or answers to questions on the application form will be automatic grounds for denial of the LTC or FID application.
Changes of address must be made in writing or by phone through the Firearms Record Bureau prior to renewal. Failure to do so could be grounds for revocation of an LTC or FID card. Fillable change of address form (PDF)

 Must be 21 years or older to apply for LTC
