Updated Firearms Licensing Procedure
Obtain LTC or FID application located in the front lobby or print one at Firearm License online . The application is the same for new applicants and renewals. You can also apply online by creating an account at Login | MIRCS Firearms Licensing Portal .
Please be sure to answer all questions on the application in full.
First time applicants, attach a copy of your firearms safety certificate and birth certificate.
Renewal applicants must fill out the full application and the affidavit on page four. Please submit your application with a check for $100 made out to the City of Amesbury.
Bring completed application to the Police Station and drop off at the front desk.
After you submit your application a Detective will review it and contact you for an appointment. You can call the department at 978-388-1212 if you have not heard from someone.
Please bring a form of government issued photo identification to your appointment.
Appointments generally last about twenty minutes.
